Dr. Scott Hallums, D.C.Doctor of ChiropracticDr. Hallums graduated from Logan College of Chiropractic, in Chesterfield, Missouri in 2006. Prior to opening Wheaton Chiropractic Spine & Joint Center, Dr. Hallums began his career at Green Hills Chiropractic in Nashville, TN. In 2008, Dr. Hallums moved to Chicago, IL and began working at East Bank Chiropractic, a busy practice in downtown Chicago. Throughout his 4+ years at East Bank he excelled in patient management, treatment, and communication. “Being able to examine, diagnose, and treat, many difficult cases, has helped develop me into the chiropractor that I am today.” Originally from Lebanon, TN, Dr. Hallums earned a scholarship to play collegiate basketball at Cumberland University, where he attended undergraduate school and graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology. While playing basketball, Dr. Hallums sustained several injuries, spraines/straines, falls, etc. One of the intricate parts to his recovery and treatment was regular visits to the chiropractor. Along with treatment in the sports medicine department, regular adjustments helped his body recover at a faster rate which helped him get back on the court and play.
Dr. Hallums was first introduced to chiropractic care while he was in high school. At age 17 he began experiencing debilitating migraines with symptoms of visual auras, light sensitivity, nausea, vomiting, and head and neck pain. After seeing his primary care physician and being prescribed medication which offered minimal relief, he found himself seeking a chiropractor for help. After about 6 months of care, Dr. Hallums noticed a significant decrease in severity, duration, and frequency of the migraines. Dr. Hallums still suffers from migraines but regular adjustments help him keep the migraines at a minimum and manageable.
When Dr. Hallums is not treating patients, he is actively involved with the Wheaton Chamber of Commerce, Downtown Wheaton Association, Wheaton Lions Club, and BNI. In his spare time, Dr. Hallums enjoys spending time with his wife, Vanessa, daughter, Isabella, and dog which is named Cat. He likes to remain active and enjoys working out and competing in races. He participated in the Fred Meyer Hood to Coast in Portland, OR which is a 200 mile team relay from Mt. Hood to the Pacific Ocean. He has also ran in multiple Rock n Roll 1/2 Marathons and completed the 2010 Chicago Marathon. Dr. Hallums also enjoys fishing, cooking, and watching and rooting for his beloved Tennessee Volunteers.
I know there is so much controversy between chiropractic and medical care, but if it were not for chiropractic I would still be in pain. A car accident left me with constant lower back pain. I tried everything from painkillers to preparing to have surgery. I heard stories from my friends who had surgery and to this day wish they never had it. So I decided to go to a chiropractor before the surgery and I am so thankful that I did. My back pains are gone and I am living my life to the fullest and pain free.
